Plug-In Conversions Corporation unveiled our Prius PHEV fleet in mid August 2007 to let people know that there are cars on the road getting over 100 miles per gallon. The public event was attended by representatives of
CalCars (The California Cars Initiative),
Nilar (NiMH battery manufacturer),
EVAOSD (Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego),
SDAPCD (San Diego Air Pollution Control District),
ICSC (Imagine Carlsbad Sustainability Committee), and members of
PIA (Plug-In America).
Our Prius vehicles are plugged into a wall outlet and charged up with enough electricity for over 20 miles of driving. This stored energy is used for all-electric driving below 35 mph, or to reduce the amount of gasoline burned during normal driving, until the next charge. Either way the mileage is much higher until the charge is used up and the car reverts to original Prius operation
